County Grant Will Keep FAJ Afloat Through June
A $25,000 grant from Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer?s office, along with a $5,000 donation from Tri-CED Community Recycling, will keep Filipino Advocates for Justice afloat through the fiscal year, which ends June 30.

AC Transit decides to buy new buses from Hayward company
The AC Transit board agreed Wednesday to buy 40 new buses from the Gillig bus manufacturer in Hayward in the transit sytem's first major vehicle order since adopting a "buy America" policy for new vehicles.

There's a big push in Union City to get kids to think about their futures. A local group sponsored an essay contest encouraging students in the third grade to write about what they plan to do the year they graduate from high school.
