Meeting and Conference Rooms in Oakland

The library has 7 meeting rooms available for rent to anyone for activities such as meetings, depositions, corporate trainings, arbitrations, mediations, break rooms during trials, and similar uses.

  • Minimum rental is one hour. You must pay for the full hour when you use any portion of an hour.
  • Room users may check-in at the reference desk when the library opens at 8:30 a.m. and must checkout by 4:15 p.m. before the library closes at 4:30 p.m.
  • Staying longer requires prior approval by the administrative office at 510-272-6482.

The library accepts cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. Users pay in full upon leaving the room and returning the key to the reference desk, unless the user made prior arrangements with the administrative office at 510-272-6482.

Conference room users must adhere to the rules of conduct and the conference-meeting room policies and rental agreement.

Room 8 has an overhead projector, computer, laptop connection for PC, phone and hard-wired Internet connection. Different room configurations are available. All other rooms have Wi-Fi and can include upon request a flip chart, easel, and whiteboard. Rooms 3, 5, and 8 have phones.

Conference-Meeting Room Policies and Rental Agreement

Oakland offers 7 rooms for rent:

Minimum rental is one hour. You must pay for the full hour when you use any portion of an hour.

Rooms are available as soon as the library is open and must be vacated by 15 minutes prior to the library closing.

The library accepts cash, checks, Visa and Mastercard. Payment in full is due immediately upon vacating the room unless prior arrangements for billing were made with the administration office.

Rental period starts as soon as the keys are received by the patron and ends when the keys are returned to the reference desk. Renters must sign in at the reference desk and mark the time in and time out, otherwise they may be liable for the maximum rental time.

Checks returned for insufficient funds will be subject to a $30 fee and any future rentals must be paid for with cash or credit card only.

Catering is not provided by the library; however, patrons may bring in food and drink provided care is taken to protect the furnishings, equipment, flooring, etc. in the room.

Please return any chairs or tables that have been moved to their original positions and put all trash in the trash can. Please report any spills, etc. to the reference desk immediately. Renters are liable for any damage to the room made during their rental period.

Reservations may be cancelled without penalty provided the renter contacts the library by phone or email no less than one business day prior to the reservation. Renter will be charged for one hour as a penalty for any cancellation made later than one business day prior to the start of the reservation.

Renters are allowed in and out privileges during the period of their rental and are allowed to leave their belongings in the room during this time at the renter's own risk.

Liability

Renter agrees to reimburse the law library for any damages and to protect, indemnify, defend, save and hold harmless ACLL and its Officers and Employees from any and all claims, liabilities, damages or right of action directly or indirectly arising out of the use of the facility.
